St. Charles Borromeo Philippine Medical Mission (SCBPMM) was founded in 1999 as Philippine Medical Mission (PMM), an outreach project of the Social Justice Ministry at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia. It was the brainchild of two dedicated Filipino American volunteers, Maricel Bretault and Celia Coronado, who felt a strong need to assist underprivileged communities in the Philippines. In 2005, PMM obtained its tax exempt 501 c (3) status and became SCBPMM.

SCBPMM is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors and operated by a core of committed volunteers of various backgrounds. SCBPMM volunteers provide their special knowledge and expertise to fulfill the mission of the organization.
