Access to government assistance and relief assistance for the Manobo Dulangan in Kulaman on Mindanao continues to be a struggle, because it is geographically isolated and considered a 3rd class municipality. This means that all of the basic needs of the people residing in the area, especially the Manobo Dulangan tribe, are not yet provided for.
This target group resides in very remote villages and is prevented from going into town, due to the community quarantine and the lockdown implemented locally to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The emergency relief provided by SCBPMM is of great help for these families especially at this time when most of them cannot transport and sell their farm products in town due to travel restrictions. The barangay and the municipality have limited calamity funds, not enough to provide for all of their constituents. The ones residing in remote villages are rarely able to avail of relief services from their barangays.
The grant is being used to provide relief assistance such as food, basic hygiene, paraceltamol and multivitamins to beneficiaries under the Delesan Kailawan Program at this time of health crisis.
