St. Charles Borromeo Philippine Medical Mission

Background

Founded in 1999 as an outreach project of the Social Justice Ministry at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia, the St. Charles Borromeo Philippine Medical Mission (SCBPMM) is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the inherent rights of the poor and underprivileged in the Philippines through the provision of health care, education, and basic human services. To achieve its mission, the Philippine Medical Mission works in partnership with its non-profit partner agencies in the Philippines, including ANAWIM Lay Missions Foundations, Childhope Asia Philippines, the Foundation of Our Lady of Peace, the Religious of Notre Dame of the Missions, the Archbishop Gabriel M. Reyes Memorial Foundation, and Tulay ng Kabataan. SCBPMM supports the work of the partner agencies through ongoing technical support, capacity building, and fundraising activities.

Responsibilities:

The Social Media Volunteer will advance the social media components of the St. Charles Borromeo Philippine Medical Mission’s online presence, including:

• Coordinates with SCBPMM’s Volunteer Coordinator to develop a social media strategy
• Identifies appropriate social networking platforms suitable for advocacy and resource development.
• Sets up social media properties.
• Identifies, posts, and publishes content.
• Monitors and mediates audience participation.
• Generates usage metrics and report.
• Analyzes participation trends.
• Informs strategies for increasing performance of social media networks.
• Informs strategies for utilizing social networks for advocacy and fundraising.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate/graduate background in communications or a related field, with a focus on social
networking tools and strategies. Previous experience in coordinating social media efforts
highly desirable.
• Knowledge and experience working with social media management tools.
• Excellent communications and writing skills.
• Creativity and initiative to follow through and complete assigned projects.
• Ability to work independently based on broad-based goals.
• A strong desire to serve the poor and underprivileged in the Philippines.

SCBPMM volunteers and interns are invited to attend one meeting each month at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia. The Social Media Volunteer must have access to his/her own computing resources.
